Itinerary 9 Nights 10 Days

Day 1

Paro to Thimphu - driving distance 1 hour

The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country.

In clear weather, magnificent views of the Bhutan's highest peaks give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land.

First gift from Bhutan will be the cool, clean fresh air as you step out of the plane. After clearing customs and visa control you will be brief by our guide and transferred to Thimphu.

Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan with elevation 2200 meter approximately and has population about 150000. The town is made up of just three lines of shops, and is the only capital in the world without traffic lights. Here at Thimphu, we will do hotel check in.

At the afternoon we will visit Buddha Point, a 169 feet bronze statue of Buddha, located at Kuenselphodrang Nature Park. After that, we will go to National Memorial Chorten (stupa). At evening we can walk around Thimphu town. End of the day, dinner and overnight at hotel.


Day 2

Thimphu

Morning time we will visit Thimphu Dzong (fort), which function as seat of the monk body and the government’s office.

Our next destination will be painting school, heritage, museum, and market. We will have lunch at town, then visit Takin Enclosure Park (to see national animal of Bhutan), archery match, weaving center and handicraft. Evening walk around Thimphu Town.


Day 3

Thimphu to Punakha - driving distance 2.5 hours

After breakfast, destination will be Dochula Pass at the height of 3050 meter. This beautiful pass has 108 stupas and view of Himalayas range if the sky is clear.

We will have lunch on the way to Punakha. After lunch we go for a walk around 30 minutes to Chimi Lhakhang fertility temple, and visit Punakha Dzong– the most beautiful fort in Bhutan. This is the second oldest fort in Bhutan that built during 1638.

From there we walk across longest suspension bridge in Bhutan (200 meter). In the evening we do the check in and dinner at hotel.


Day 4

Punakha to Bumthang - driving distance 6 hours

Elevation of Bumthang 2700 meter.

Early in the morning we will drive all the way from Punakha via Trongsa crossing three passes, and for today you will enjoy the view. On the way we will visit Trongsa Dzong (fort) and Trongsa Museum.

Lunch will be on the way and by late evening we will reach beautiful valley of Bumthang. We will have an overnight and dinner in hotel here.


Day 5

Bumthang

Day tour around Bumthang.

In Bumthang we have several places we can visit. Jambay Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan, from 7thcentury, built by Songsen Gembo - King of Tibet.

Kurjey Temple, from 8thcentury, where you can see body imprinted of Guru Rimpoche on the rock. After that hike to Tamshing monastery for 30 minutes.

Afternoon time we can visit Beer factory, Cheese factory and evening walk around beautiful town of Bumthang. Dinner and overnight in hotel will end the day.


Day 6

Bumthang to Gangtey (Phobjika) - driving distance 4hours

Start this morning drive from Bumthang via Trongsa, and lunch will be on the way. As we reach Gangtey or Phobjikha Valley, we will visit Gangtey Gonpa. This is an old monastery that dates back to 16th century.

From there, we continue with an easy hike (Gangtey Nature Trail) around 4 km, for 1.5 hours. After the hike we will visit Crane Information Center. The Valley of Phobjikha is well known as the winter home of the Black Necked Crane (Grus Nigricollis).

We end the day with enjoy our dinner and overnight at hotel.


Day 7

Gangtey (Phobjika) to Paro - driving distance 5 hours

Early in the morning we start the journey from Gangtey (Phobjikha) to Paro.

On the way we will stop for tea break and toilet break. Lunch will be either at Thimphu or Paro.

At afternoon we will visit Paro Dzong (fort), and in the evening we going to walk around Paro town. The day ended with dinner at hotel.


Day 8

Paro to Haa to Paro- driving distance 2 hours (total 4 hours)

Day excursion to Haa Valley.

Today we will drive up to highest pass road point that built in Bhutan, Chelala Pass, which elevation is 3900 meter. In Haa valley the destination will be White Temple and walk around Haa town. Afternoon time we will drive back to Paro.

At the evening, we will visit homestay and enjoy local dinner at homestay.


Day 9

Hike to Tiger’s Nest or Paro Taktsang(elevation 3100 meter) – total time for hike up and down 6 hours

After breakfast, we will go to the base of Paro Taktsang to start the hike up to the Tiger’s Nest monastery. Need around 1.5 hours to reach the cafeteria, where we will have a short stop for tea break and toilet break. At this area, you can enjoy the stunning view of the monastery, where Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century.

After finish with the hike up, we then walk back down to the road point. Continuing the trip, will drive to visit Kyichu Lhakhang – one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Later at the evening we will enjoy a night walk around the main street of Paro’s main shopping district.


Day 10

Departure - Paro to Airport

After breakfast, your representative will help you with the exit formalities and bid you farewell and wish you happy journey back home.
